SOS MÉDITERRANÉE is an Italian-French-German humanitarian organisation for the rescue of people in distress in the Mediterranean, active since 2015. Sos Méditerranée is based on the respect for human beings and their dignity, without partiality as concerns their nationality or origin, their social belonging, religious belief, political position or ethnic identity. In light of the dramatic increase of boats in distress and the insufficiency of existing measures, Sos Méditerranée’s rescue vessel Aquarius forms part of the search and rescue efforts in the central Mediterranean since 2016.
